What's been going on?

A lot of people have been asking me what's been going on with my music the last few months? All I got to say is that's a great question.  I've played several gigs in the last few months.  I had a great gig back on October 14th at Sacred Grounds, one of my favorite places play, whether it's showing up randomly for their open mic on Thursday nights or booking a show on a Friday or Saturday night.

The cool thing about the Haight music community is that you never know who's going to show up.  Mr. Natural, a neighborhood fixture who re-taught Roseanne Barr how to actually sing.  Bruce, the owner who loves to talk about life the universe and everything.  Gary, who hosts the open mic off and on with Mr. Natural, who is a great song writer in his own right. On the night I played I happened to come across all of the above plus Marco Harps, who is one of the most brilliant harmonica players on the planet or should I say he came across me.  I want to give a shout out to Elena and her partner for showing up and hanging out with me that night as well.

In November I had a couple of other gigs that I should mention.  On the 5th I played with Frances Ancheta at the Canvas.  Quite a few people came out for this one, but if you missed it, Frances performed with her all women's choir and we also shared the stage all afternoon doing a couple of sets.  It was a fun time as usual.  Frances and I are becoming a regular attraction there on Sunday afternoons.

My last gig was at the end of November at The Bistro on the 15th.  Hey Tiffany, I still haven't recovered from hanging out with you.  It was good to see you.  It was also amazing to play with Katie Cajigas as usual.  For those of you who don't know who she is you better find out, because she has a wonderful voice and a lot of songwriting talent.  Watch out for the next time we play together, because it's worth it.

What else?  I've spent December in seclusion because all songwriters need seclusion now and then.  I've been writing new songs, dreaming up new ideas, working on my personal life, and finishing up my new album which will be coming out in the next few months.  It's called Stories from the Abyss.  Sounds like a depression title doesn't it?  Well it's not.  It's a collection of songs about life and why it should be enjoyed, admired, and valued as something special.  I'll let you know more when it's ready to be released.

That's all for now.  I'll keep you posted on what's new and around the corner.
